Among the herbal extracts included in each tablet, Trikatu, as well as papaya and conch shell stand out from the rest. Documents of the ayurvedic medicine, dating back to the 7th century b.C., refer to “trikatu”. Trikatu is a Sanskrit word which refers to the combination of black pepper, long pepper and ginger. In traditional ayurvedic medicine, these ingredients are essential elements of many recipes and formulations used for a wide range of diseases.

APPLICATIONS

• Heartburn, indigestion
• Dyspepsia, abdominal gas
• Digestive stimulant
• Relief of discomfort by heavy meals

Black Pepper (Maricha)
Black pepper is a healing spice of great importance within Ayurveda. It has got cleansing and antioxidant properties. In addition, it is an enhancer of the bioavailability, that is, it helps to carry the beneficial properties of other herbs to different parts of the body. It supports the flow of oxygen to the brain, improves digestion and circulation, stimulates the appetite, and also maintains the health of the respiratory system and joints.
Black pepper is a spice that heats and contributes to the pungent flavour, balances Kapha, helps the balance of Vata and increases Pitta.

Long Pepper (Pippalimool)
In Ayurveda, long pepper is known as a rasayana, rejuvenation treatment that favours longevity. It contains a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antitumour compound called Piperine.
Long pepper regulates menstrual flow and prevents from irregular menstruation. It solves problems related to sexual organs, and increases fertility and libido in women.
It protects liver against external damage, by removing the toxins and preventing from jaundice.
Long pepper helps digestion and reduces stomach heartburn. It is beneficial for the treatment of dyspepsia, anorexia, abdominal pain and flatulence.
It is also very useful in respiratory conditions: it helps to expel accumulated mucus, and in general it is beneficial for diseases like cough, bronchitis and asthma.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale)
The use of ginger in Ayurveda is so large that it is considered a first-aid kit in itself, there is an ayurvedic Sutra (verse) which says that everybody should eat fresh ginger before having lunch and dinner to improve their digestion. In addition to animating the gastric juices, it opens the appetite, improves the assimilation and transport of nutrients to specific tissues and opens the microcirculatory channels of the body.

Papaya
The papaya has got digestive properties, it helps to treat indigestion, specially in those cases when there is a deficiency of stomach acid (dispepsia hiposecretora) or other digestive organs (pancreatitis, hepatic insufficiency).
It is suitable in cases of heavy, slow digestions and with an abundance of burping and gas (what is known in medical terms as dysepsia).
Papain stimulates the production of the juices from the pancreas, which allows a better digestion of food. This plant, on the one hand can increase gastric juices in case of hepato biliary failure, but, at the same time, it is able to protect the stomach.

Conch Shell (Shankh Bhasma)
Shankh Bhasma is an ayurvedic remedy obtained from the conch Shell. It is a natural source of calcium and vitamin C for the development and maintenance of the health of bones, teeth and cellular membrane, without adverse side effects.
In Ayurveda, Shankh Bhasma is used for the treatment of diarrhea, acne, pimples, enlarged liver and spleen, abdominal pain, indigestion, loss of appetite, heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux, abdominal distension and irritable bowel syndrome.
